Isn’t this obvious? Gracious Society? Or just “training” us to get ready for the IR and the forthcoming 2nd season of F1?
Sounds like the Olympics in China this year! Government trying all ways to educate the people of China to be more polite and more gracious, so as to leave a good impression to all.
Are we not gracious enough? I reckon Singaporean have been very “obedience” all these while.
Government says “No little, else we will fine you!” … We obliged
Government says ” No spitting, else we will fine you!” We obliged
Government says “No jaywalking, else we will fine you!” We obliged
Government says “No speeding, else we will fine you!” We obliged
Government says “No chewing gum is allowed into Singapore, else we will fine you!” We obliged
Government says “No smoking in the pubs!” We obliged
Government says “We must pay bills on time, else we will fine you!” We obliged
Government says “No alcohol will be allowed to sell after 12midnight, else we will fine you!” We obliged
Good gosh! I bet the list goes on…
Speaker corner? What’s that? Speaker corner no speaker? Why? Scared kena fine for pin-pointing the government? I admired those who dare to speak at the speaker corner lately, but strangely, all topics have to be submitted or rather being screened before they are allowed to bring to the speaker corner! What rubbish! What rights do we have? Saw a piece of news last 2 weeks, a Sing pore gay has just submitted papers asking to speak at the speaker corner on gay rights in Singapore, he is asking more Singapore gays to join him at the speaker corner, till date, only him is willing to do so! Why is this so? Reason being simple, cos Singapore is a “fine” Society since we are young! We have been educated for years to oblige that! Henceforth, no one dares to challenge! For just one reason… scared being “marked”
Talking about being “marked”! What the hell! Why must they shout our names DAMN so loud before allowing us to register for the election! I seriously don’t understand! They would simply know if we had registered ourself for election if we produce our identification at the point of registration. They don’t need to specifically shouted our name damn so loud to inform everyone we are there. Well, as much as I can guess, they just want to scare us, and just want to enforce that we MUST make our decision right!
And there again… I am sure Singaporean will be scared to death by their obtuse action!
